Salient conclusions drawn from the movie:

  • Major uses her brain to enhance her body, whereas other human beings use mechanical body parts to enhance their bodies

  1. Even though Major’s body is not human, certain characters such as her teammates still treat her as one of their own

  • It is unethical for the company to have Major as its property because she is a human with consciousness and it is considered as slavery and the company should not have the ability to control and kill her.

    • The company took major’s privacy. They read and rewrite her memory.

    • Since Major has consciousness, she is a human being. She’s not free. She has to work for the company but has no choice.

    • Major didn’t give her consent to become the cyborg that she ended up being

    • Major was taken to this experiment by force

    •

Computing technologies:

  • Holography (changing the ads industry)-

  • Cyborg Technology

  • Nanotachnology

  • Stealth technology - fictional

  • Brain implants - existing

  • Robots - existing such as in Boston Dynamics, but much more sophisticated

  • Some kind of mix between consciousness and AI - fictional as far as we know

  • Skin regeneration - fictional

  • Artificial Intellegence - existing

  • Deep dive

  • Mind-comns

Possible Topics:

  • Privacy: Does the Major have privacy? (They read her mind.)

  • Intellectual Property: Does the artificial body belong to the major or those scientists?

  • Information privacy: she didn’t even have access to her own memories at first

  • Freedom of speech: despite the fact that she was a cyborg, she had all rights to speak freely and give her own consent to certain actions, besides the one when she was about to die.

  • Rights: Major has human brain and manufactural body. Does she have right of a human?
